چکیده
Several oil–water separation techniques have been proposed to improve the capacity of cleaning water. With technological possibility producing materials with antagonist wetting behavior, for example, a substrate that repels water and absorbs oil, understanding properties control this selective has increased goal being used as mechanism separate mixed liquids. Besides experimental advance in field, less is known from theoretical side. In work, we propose model predict given introduce simulations four-spin cellular Potts study its efficiency separating oil. Our results show substrates depends both on interaction between liquids behavior itself. The droplet composed roughly controlled by hydrophobicity substrate. Predicting oil however, more complex because oleophilic does not guarantee total amount present will be absorbed For types considered pillared porous reservoir, there always an reminiscent droplet, which due gas. Controlled drop emission by wetting properties in driven liquid filaments.
The controlled formation of micrometre-sized drops is of great importance to many technological applications. Here we present a wetting-based destabilization mechanism of forced microfilaments on either hydrophilic or hydrophobic stripes that leads to the periodic emission of droplets. The drop emission mechanism is triggered above the maximum critical forcing at which wetting, capillarity, vis...

Addressing the direct control of surface wettability has been a significant challenge for a variety of applications from self-cleaning surfaces to phase-change applications. Surface wettability has been traditionally modulated by installing surface nanostructures or changing their chemistry. Among numerous nanofabrication efforts, the chemical oxidation method is considered a promising approach...
متن کاملSmart surfaces with switchable superoleophilicity and superoleophobicity in aqueous media: toward controllable oilwater separation
Advanced materials with surfaces that have controllable oil wettability when submerged in aqueous media have great potential for various underwater applications. Here we have developed smart surfaces on commonly used materials, including non-woven textiles and polyurethane sponges, which are able to switch between superoleophilicity and superoleophobicity in aqueous media. The smart surfaces ar...
متن کاملWetting and phase separation in soft adhesion.
In the classic theory of solid adhesion, surface energy drives deformation to increase contact area whereas bulk elasticity opposes it. Recently, solid surface stress has been shown also to play an important role in opposing deformation of soft materials. This suggests that the contact line in soft adhesion should mimic that of a liquid droplet, with a contact angle determined by surface tensio...
متن کاملMathematical Modeling of Gas Separation Process with Flat Carbon Membrane
Carbon molecular sieve membranes (CMSMs) have been considered as very promising candidates for gas separation, in terms of separation properties as well as thermal and chemical stability. Due to the numerous advantages and wide applications of carbon membranes, their application for gas separation is of special importance. Because of the importance of carbon membranes and a large number of stud...
